Personal Navigation Devices Essay Example
Personal Navigation Devices Paper 1. Why have Personal Navigation Devices become popular? What technologies are required to facilitate the success of PND? Personal navigation devices can become the next must-have gadgets. They add more comfort in the busy life in the sense that they give you an ability to concentrate on one thing less. PND like, say, GPS are starting to win over customers, from weekend hikers or bikers to people who are just tired of their lousy sense of direction. Some consumer GPS navigation devices feature interactive street maps that may also show route information, and step-by-step routing directions. For these reasons PNDââ¬â¢s are very helpful and useful. 2. Who are some of the leaders in PNDs? What are the likely factors that will contribute to winning in this marketplace? There are many companies, which try to develop and enhance PNDs, but probably the most famous leaders are TomTom, Garmin, Navigation, Magellan. The most important factors for the competitors that will contribute to winning in the marketplace I think are the ability to build a device which would be multifunctional and portable, not costly and with the features which would satisfy different customers depending on their particular interests and needs. 3. What will be a likely future for PNDs? I believe that dedicated PNDs will continue to be preferred for use in the car. However, in-car navigation systems will be complemented by handset-based systems for pedestrian navigation. New devices such as portable media players, ultra mobile PCs, Internet tablets and mobile Internet devices will also integrate navigation systems into their applications. 4. Apply as many TCOs to Personal Navigation Devices as possible. I decided to choose Garmin, since itââ¬â¢s easier to apply TCOs to the company: Garmin is the parent company of a group of companies founded in 1989, that develops consumer, aviation, and marine technologies for the Global Positioning System. To protect their property, most of the processes Garmin patented, but most of its software and applications are licensed, except some of them like, for example, XM Patent Application for Sending and Receiving Images. Garmin is very competent in the various fields like GPS receivers, StreetPilot devices, GPS eTrex series, iQue line of integrated PDA-GPS receivers, sonar fishfinders with GPS capabilities. The company should continue to collaborate with the different vendors and complementors to add the new features. It probably should develop more independent marketing and manufacturing units around the World to increase and encourage the RD. The company probably has to work more in the different directions, but based on the existing and recognized strength ââ¬â developing navigation devices. Recently it achieved the great reputation in the developing navigation systems for the aircrafts and ââ¬Å"wonâ⬠the huge revenue. Huaca del Sol (Peru)
Huaca del Sol (Peru) Definition: The Huaca del Sol is an enormous adobe (mud brick) Moche civilization pyramid, built in at least eight different stages between AD 0-600 at the site of Cerro Blanco in the Moche Valley of the northern coast of Peru. The Huaca del Sol (the name means Shrine or Pyramid of the Sun) is the largest mud-brick pyramid in the American continents; although much eroded today, it still measures 345 by 160 meters and is over 40 meters tall. Extensive looting, the purposeful diversion of the river alongside the Huaca del Sol, and repeated El Nià ±o climatic events have impacted the monument over the centuries, but it is still impressive. The area surrounding Huaca del Sol and its sister pyramid Huaca de la Luna was an urban settlement of at least one square kilometer, with midden and rubble deposits up to seven meters thick, from public buildings, residential areas and other architecture buried beneath the floodplains of the Moche River.Huaca del Sol was abandoned after a large flood in AD 560, and it was likely the influence of similar El Nià ±o-triggered climate events that did much of the damage to Huaca del Sol. Archaeologists associated with investigations at Huaca del Sol include Max Uhle, Rafael Larco Hoyle, Christopher Donnan, and Santiago Uceda. Sources Moseley, M. E. 1996. Huaca del Sol. 9 Resume Mistakes That Make You Look Dumb by Lauren Gartner
9 Resume Mistakes That Make You Look Dumb 9 Resume Mistakes That Make You Look Dumb What is a resume? It is not something you send out that lists your job experience and your educational background, in the hopes that someone will read it and think you might be good for an interview. A resume is a marketing tool, and you have to get into the ââ¬Å"feelâ⬠of marketing if you are going to sell yourself on a piece of paper. Resume Designs and Formats Resume designs have changed, and you can change your design based upon the type of organization to which you are applying ââ¬â conservative, moderate, fairly progressive, and ââ¬Å"out there.â⬠These are things you can learn about anywhere. The other thing about resumes today is that you can format your background information in several different ways ââ¬â you donââ¬â¢t have to go with the standard chronological order necessarily. Again, you can find examples of all types of formats online, and really good recommendations about which to use dependent upon your circumstances and the organizations to which you are applying. Dumb Mistakes You may have the greatest, most-eye-catching design and the perfect format fit for a position opening, but if you make any of these dumb mistakes, your work will find its next home in ââ¬Å"resume heaven.â⬠Putting an Objective at the Top of Your Resume Objectives are meaningless because they do not speak to what you can offer the organization; they only speak to what you want. A potential employer doesnââ¬â¢t care about what you want. S/he wants someone who can be a problem-solver for the organization. If you must have a headline, and those are good to have sometimes, make it about the specific position and what you can bring to that position. Long Prose and Sentences Think about it. When you want to read something quickly, what do you want to see? You want to see short sentences and phrases, bullet points, and really important stuff in bold or underlined. A reviewer of our resume is no different. Fast-track your accomplishments with action verbs, phrases, and bullets. Linking to All of Your Social Media Accounts Who cares if you are on Facebook ââ¬â so is half the human race. If a potential employer wants to access your page, s/he will. Now, if you have a really great LinkedIn profile or an online portfolio, then that is quite another story. Definitely, link to those. Grammatical Errors and Typos Your college professors didnââ¬â¢t like grammar mistakes, and resume reviewers donââ¬â¢t either. You look either really lazy or compositionally challenged. You donââ¬â¢t want to ââ¬Å"lookâ⬠either. So, check your resume a bunch of times for any English mistakes and have somebody else check it too. Lying You certainly want to paint yourself as someone who has accomplished a lot, especially in those specific areas included in the job posting. But overstating your accomplishments, exaggerating your educational performance, stating you resigned when you were terminated ââ¬â these things have a way of catching up, especially when background checks, references, and online research can reveal so much. If you donââ¬â¢t want to say you were fired, donââ¬â¢t. You can talk about the circumstances during the interview if you are asked. Too Long Less is really more when it comes to resumes. Be concise, and brief. When you speak to accomplishments, stop with the laundry lists. Include those that directly relate to the position you are seeking. If there isnââ¬â¢t a really good fit, then list the most significant ones. There will be time to speak to the others during an interview if they become relevant. Good rule of thumb: If you donââ¬â¢t have a lot of employment experience, one page is the max; if you are a more seasoned professional with several positions and/or a number of years of employment, two pages should be the max. Same Words Over and Over How many times can you say ââ¬Å"developed,â⬠or ââ¬Å"organized,â⬠or ââ¬Å"lead,â⬠or ââ¬Å"produced?â⬠In a resume, the answer is many! Find some synonyms for words that you are using over and over again ââ¬â maybe some that ââ¬Å"popâ⬠or add some ââ¬Å"sparkle.â⬠Using Passive Voice You want to give the impression that you take action; you do that with action verbs. All accomplishments that you list should begin with an action verb (not the word ââ¬Å"Iâ⬠either). ââ¬Å"Increased sales by 15% over a period of one quarter;â⬠ââ¬Å"Created new marketing strategies which increased conversions by 46%.â⬠Now youââ¬â¢re an action figure! Failure to Customize If you donââ¬â¢t customize your resume for each position, using keywords that will be picked up by automated screening tools, then you wonââ¬â¢t look dumb to someone reviewing your resume. Your resume will never make it to that someone at all. Any reader can pick out generic resumes ââ¬â they are vague and do not speak to specifics of the position s/he has available ââ¬â deleted! Use the information available to you regarding design and format. Then go through this list and make sure that you are not committing the fatal errors that will kill your chances for an interview.

MGT Coursework Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words
MGT - Coursework Example The character David Bunzik does not perfectly fit in this type of personality. But he exhibits some traits of this personality during the argument on the plane which gets him sent to rehab. He however has a boss who exhibits all the traits of an abrasive personality. In the movie has several conflict handling styles are employed especially between David Bunzik and Doctor Buddy. The job responsibilities are clarified so as to reduce the conflicts. The two parties also find ways of coming together in order to foster an understanding amongst them. The two characters result in changing their focus to much larger goals so as to minimize the level of conflict between them. These methods do work since they are able to get through with the therapy and achieve the desired results. I have learnt that there is need to understand the different characters that exist in the work place. Another lesson from the movie is that conflicts which are a part of human interaction can be resolved to enhance coexistence. Managing Teams The team in the movie ââ¬Å"Remember the Titansâ⬠went through all the stages of group development. First the team underwent formation, a period during which Washington was hired to take over as the coach of the T.C. Williams High School. During this period Washington decides to honor his predecessor (Yoast) with an assistant coordinators position. Patton declines this position at first. During the storming stage, the white players of the team pledge to boycott their team if Yoast does not accept the offer. The athletes are also involved in racial-related conflicts in their camp. After seeing how bad the situation had gotten Yoast decides to accept the offer and at this point the team enters the norming stage. The conflicts are resolved following the rigorous coaching by William. The team enters the performing stage as demonstrated in the scene where even after the loss of their star player, they still go ahead and win the championship. One of the s trategies that were employed by the two coaches was that of helping the members of the team to stay together and to view matters as a team. The two coaches were instrumental in creating the rules for the team in order to establish team spirit. The issues that plagued individual members did not escape the two coaches who ensured that they dealt with them firmly. The coaches also celebrated the teamââ¬â¢s success. All these actions help in ensuring that a team mentality is developed among the different members of the team. I believe the two coaches handled their team in a very professional manner. If I had been managing the team, I would have sort to grant the team members more autonomy much earlier so as to facilitate the members to develop a sense of responsibility towards the team. The lesson here is that teams are usually built through the tactful use of skill. For the team to achieve its goals, all the members need to play their part. Organizational Culture The organization cu lture in Enron Corporation that is the subject of the movie is very wanting. The values held by the organization do not uphold upright integrity. This is evident since the management team diverts the corporationââ¬â¢s money to offshore accounts. The lack of integrity is also evident as the executives end up with criminal cases. The executives are also involv

Health care industry is healing from the recent shortage in qualified professionals. The retention of professionals and overall employee satisfaction has been affected by the recent economical changes. Need for change has been pressured amongst health care managers for almost a decade now. The federal government has predicted, by 2020, retirement will contribute to a shortage of approximately 24,000 doctors and nearly one million nurses. The organizational environment appears to be the focus of the human resource consultants that are providing input in the change. The most challenging aspect of management today in the health care industry is employee satisfaction because retaining qualified professionals has decreased. Complexometric Determination of Water Hardness
Complexometric Determination of Water Hardness Abstract: Create a standardized EDTA solution for use as a titration solution to determine the hardness of water from a single random sample. Introduction: Using a calibrated EDTA solution to determine water hardness from a random sample. Essentially the Na2EDTA solution reacts one to one with the mineral content of a sample of tap water and by use of a standardized solution a ppm estimation can be obtained for the hardness of water.Current knowledge in this area is well understood and procedures used follow generally accepted guidelines. Method: First the calibration was completed using an approximately . 7340g Na2EDTA/500mL solution. A 1. 000g/L calcium ion solution was used as the primary standard with approximately 3mL of ammonium chloride as a buffer and Erichrome Black T as the indicator solution. Three titrations were performed to ensure accuracy of the molarity of the Na2EDTA solution. The 1. 000g/L calcium ion solution had to be converted to M so 1g/L/100. g=. 009990M calcium ion solution. Titration 1: 10. 00mL CaCO3; . 00999MCaCO3X. 0100L= . 0000999mol CaCO3 . 0000999mol EDTA/. 002507L = . 00398M Na2EDTA Titration 2: 10. 00mL CaCO3; . 00999MCaCO3X. 0100L= . 0000999mol CaCO3 . 0000999mol EDTA/. 02339L = . 004271M Na2EDTA Titration 3: 9. 95mL CaCO3; . 00999MCaCO3X. 0100L= . 0000994mol CaCO3 . 0000994mol EDTA/. 02367L = . 004196M Na2EDTA Since the first titration is so far out from the other two it was thrown out giving an average result of . 04233M Na2EDTA Sample B was used in this experiment with at 25mL and three titrations were performed to ensure accuracy with the same buffer solution (appx 3mL ammonium chloride @ pH10). A magnetic stirrer and standard burette were used in the procedure with a read accuracy to . 01mL. Eriochrome Black T was the indicator solution. Results: Titration 1: 12. 52mL Na2EDTA; . 00423M Na2EDTA x . 01252L = . 0000530 mol . 0000530mol/. 02496L = . 00212M hardness Titration 2: 12 . 19mL Na2EDTA; . 00423M Na2EDTA x . 01219L = . 0000516 mol . 0000516mol/. 2499L = . 00206M hardness Titration 1: 12. 23mL Na2EDTA; . 00423M Na2EDTA x . 01223L = . 0000517 mol .0000517mol/. 02505L = . 00206M hardness (. 00212M+. 00206M+. 00206M)/3 = . 00208M Discussion: The results are very consistent however the website for checking the data is no longer valid. Provided that the titration solution was calibrated properly the results from the experiment to determine the hardness of water should be accurate with a margin of consistency between samples vs. average hardness @ 1. 89% at most for any of the three samples.
